Chances are that you don’t think too often about your next shave, I know I don’t. But that was before the GilletteLabs Heated Razor. Now, I find myself excited whenever my facial hair becomes unruly.
Introducing Gillette Heated Razor by The Art of Shaving
The Art of Shaving is a brand owned by Gillette that offers premium shaving products. I’m not going to lie, I was excited to try GilletteLab’s Heated Razor the moment I was introduced to it.
According to Gillette, this is the world’s first heated razor. For those who are familiar with Gillette products, you’ll notice a resemblance to the Gillette Fusion, except that the Heated Razor is much more robust in appearance and almost colossal in comparison.
The Razor Design & Construction
Before getting into the design and construction, I always appreciate a product’s packaging and presentation, and Gillette keeps it sleek and simple with the heated razor.
The razor’s construction is elegant and functional. The stout handle provides a solid grip, with the centered power button and heat indicator, it’s easy going from the start. It’s super slick, I would liken it to an exotic sports car of men’s razors. In fact they recently partnered with Bugatti with the release of a Special Edition Razor.
There are two heat levels (109°F/43°C and 122°F/50°C), you simply press and hold to toggle between the settings. The heat indicator lights up a light orange for the lower heat setting and a deep orange for higher heat. I personally prefer the higher heat setting.
The heated razor comes with a portable wireless magnetic charging dock that’s as sleek looking as the razor itself. They’ve also got a Starter Kit + Charging Travel Case for those who want something compact while they’re on-the-go.
The star of the show is the golden warming bar, positioned just under the 5 blades that mimics the feeling of a hot towel shave. It heats immediately after you push the power button leading to a turbo-charged shave experience that might be unlike any shave you’ve experienced before.
The Gillette Heated Razor Shave Experience
They say that you’ll awaken your senses with the feeling of a hot towel shave, similar to what you’d get at a professional barbershop. I’ve never had wet shave at a barber, but I imagine the GilletteLabs Heated Razor experience is comparable — all from the comforts of home.
The razor handle has plenty of heft, making it comfortable to grip. And the blade attaches to the razor similar to other Gillette products, you simply pop it on and off, easy peasy. As for the blade itself, it features the ubiquitous 5 blades for a silky smooth glide that doesn’t irritate the skin.
