There’s no doubt that when sartorial-minded men think of luxury suits, Canali comes to mind.
A BIT ABOUT CANALI
Canali has been producing tailor-made Italian suits since 1934.
The Canali Tailoring Principle is simple;
“[using] innovation to achieve aesthetic perfection, continuously renewing its styles with a meticulous attention to detail and the use of premium fabrics.”
All of their suits are made through the artistry of master tailors with the finest materials, all handcrafted in Italy.
Canali is now in its third generation as a family run company with its own production centers located in Italy. Today, they have over 180 boutiques, over 1,600 employees, and can be found in over 1,000 retail stores in over 100 countries worldwide.
CANALI FALL/WINTER SUITS
Canali’s fall and winter suit offering is simple yet classic. It focuses on staple colors of blue and gray, the two first suit colors I’d recommend any man own.
The current collection features blues of varying shades, light to dark as well as lighter/mid-gray to charcoal and black colorways. To mix things up they’ve also got Prince of Wales check suits with winter weather fabrics of wool and flannel.
CANALI SUITS STYLE & FIT
If you’re a regular Gentleman Within reader then you know that I always preach the importance of fit. I usually then go on to say that it doesn’t matter if you’re wearing a luxury suit or a cheap suit, as long as the fit is on point, you’re going to look good.
That’s great, but wouldn’t it be nice if you can nail the fit with a sustainably produced luxury suit? And that’s how it looks to be with Canali’s suits. Their suits feature form-fitting silhouettes with modern cuts and clean drapes while still retaining a classic look.
One little detail I personally love are the wide lapels. It’s refreshing after seeing the menswear scene run amok with comically thin lapels over the past decade or so.
CANALI SUIT DETAILS
When it comes to details, Canali’s craftsmanship is crisp. The sleeves and hem are left unfinished for post-purchase tailoring. All Canali suits are made in Italy.

IN CLOSING
I feel that this 3 minute short film ‘Rewind’ is a good way to wrap things up on Canali suits. This behind the scenes look documents everything that comes before the simple act of putting on a blazer. It shows the kind of meticulous care, craftsmanship and attention to detail that goes into their suit making process.
I’ve never been so moved by a video about menswear. Worth the watch!
