If you happen to be a menswear enthusiast, then you know that when it comes to style, FIT IS KING.
You understand the importance of buying clothing that not only fits properly, but that flatter your body type. You know that having a good tailor in your rolodex is paramount. And you know that it’s smart to embrace going custom.
And that’s where Woodies Clothing comes in. After all, they specialize in custom made-to-measure casual shirts and chinos.
This post revolves around the classic white button-down shirt. I’m sure you have one or several of them in your wardrobe. I created this spring style lookbook to help give you some inspiration on how you can wear that white shirt.
Before I get started with the style breakdowns and review, I want to first thank Woodies Clothing for sponsoring this article. I’ve been a fan of Woodies and have been rocking their made-to-measure chinos for almost two years now.
In fact, I supported their first original Kickstarter campaign in back in early 2016. And I also featured them in previous videos. And so when Jacob Wood, the founder of Woodies reached out for a Spring collaboration, I had to say yes.
THE SPRING STYLE LOOKS
The outfits in this lookbook are anchored by Woodies’ performance dress shirt and premium performance stretch chinos.
What’s great about these performance fabrics is that for the shirts, they’re iron free and have 2-way stretch for a fuller range of motion and comfort. Additionally they’re moisture wicking, pulling sweat away from your body to keep you cool and they’re antibacterial so you you’ll smell good for longer.
And for the pants, they dry quickly, are wrinkle resistant and best of all are stain repellent. So you can spill water or wine on these pants, no problem. This is a huge plus, in my opinion.
Ya know, I’ve gotta say that Woodies’ shirts and chinos are actually worthy of the word ‘performance’.
LOOK 1: Keepin’ it Cas
The first fit is cool and comfortable. It’s a look that can take you from a day of sightseeing around the city to a night for drinks at the pub.
This casual look has a modern fit that’s slim and tailored, which is currently my favorite aesthetic. Also note the color palette. It’s mainly neutral—the white shirt pairs perfectly with gray and brown, a few of my favorite colors to wear. It’s casual, it’s minimal and most of all it’s stylish.
LOOK 2: Smart(er) Casual
Look 2 is a more elevated, casual look. It’s still casual because of the dark wash denim and the comfort stretch blazer, but it’s also dressy because of the knitted tie, tie bar and brogues pairing. There’s nice balance here that screams smart casual.
A pair of walnut shade brogues is the ultimate smart casual shoe as it can be worn with trousers or jeans. Again, a white shirt looks really great with other neutral colors like gray and brown, that’s why I’ve been leaning heavily towards this palette in this lookbook.
LOOK 3: A Casual A’Flair
For look 3 we’re back to the casual, cool aesthetic. This one is the most casual of the three looks. Everything from the colors of the blue stretch chinos to the blue of the summer shades leans towards casual.
Rocking a pair of beige canvas sneakers is a smart move if you want to keep things stylishly casual. Note the details. For added flair, I’ve rolled up my sleeves (master roll) and cuffed the bottom of my pants. This is a personal preference thing, but doing this also shows an attention to detail many guys overlook.
Again, I have the casual backpack in a casual blue, mirroring the pants and the glasses. It’s a great travel, off-duty kind of look that gives you that devil may care attitude.
IN THE END
You’ll notice that with all 3 of these looks, the fit is on point. That’s because Woodies offers quality custom made-to-measure chinos and shirts. So they’re tailor made for my body type, which is super important for all guys, but especially for shorter guys.
Woodies nailed the fit on the first round, and I’d say pretty flawlessly at that. When it comes to style and fit, I’d say you’re in good hands with these guys.
And if they don’t happen to nail the fit, they will do a complete remake for you free of charge, and you get to keep the original order.
