If you’re a regular Gentleman Within reader then you already know that I’m a fan of Gentleman’s Box. This month, we take look at what’s inside their June box. If you want to check out reviews of previous boxes, I’ve got those right here.
Note: This box was sent to me by Gentleman’s Box. This review and all opinions are my own.
Before we start, if you already know Gentleman’s Box is for you, they were kind enough to provide Gentleman Within readers with a special discount.
COUPON: Simply use coupon code GENTWITHIN to save $10 off of your first box. That means you can get this box (a $118 retail value) for just $15. That’s a steal if you ask me.
Remember you can put your subscription on pause for a 30 day hold or cancel anytime.
As you may know, each box is based around a theme. June is in honor of our favorite Grand Slam (Tennis) Great. Clearly that man is none other than Roger Federer. Sorry Nadal, Djokovic fans. The GOAT has a great chance at an unheard of 19 majors at Wimbledon later next month. I digress…
Back to Gentleman’s Box. Their three main pillars of “Look Good. Feel Good. Be Good.” has resonated with me since day one because it aligns with the Gentleman Within ethos. Call it a tagline, a mantra or whatever, but it’s a good reminder as we strive to live our lives in the best way we can.
GENTLEMAN’S BOX REVIEW—JUNE 2017
ARISTO TIE NECKTIE
I like this necktie for a few reasons. First, it’s not boring. Second, it’s more versatile than you may think. A dotted pattern is one of the easier patterns to mix and match. And the primary color of the tie is navy which has many complementary colors such as beige, tan, blue, red, pink white—almost any color really. Things can get interesting when you use the coral colored dots to complement other accent colors in your outfit.
The tie may look wider than your typical ‘skinny’ tie, but at 3 inches at its widest, is still considered a skinny tie according to many tie makers. I like that it’s a bit wider because it gives the tie a more classic look and it goes well with many of my blazers’ lapels. Just a note…it’s not silk, but it has a silk like feel and appearance.
RETAIL PRICE: $39
GENTLEMEN ESSENTIALS POCKET SQUARE
Four words. Ultra simple, ultra versatile. This 100% cotton pocket square is an essential for the dapper fellow. It will complement all kinds of colors and looks as well as the Aristo Tie from above.
RETAIL PRICE: $12
GOLDEN RABBIT SOCKS
You can’t go wrong with a classic striped pair of socks. It’s a quad blend of 70% cotton, 20% nylon, 7% polyester, 3% spandex. The sock is light which makes it ideal for the summer. It pairs well with the necktie because the navy tie picks up the accents of the stripes on the sock.
RETAIL PRICE: $12
DEFINED MEN LEATHER WATCH
My favorite piece in this month’s box is a nice leather watch by defined men. What I like is the clean minimalist watch face and the rose gold trim.
I compared it to my Daniel Wellington watch and it’s nearly identical in form. As for what’s under the hood, I can’t tell because I’m not a “watch guy,” but even the specs.—Japanese quartz movement and water resistance up to 3 ATM—are identical to the DW watches, which are more than double the price.
It has a genuine leather strap. I like that it’s a chocolate brown color, which is refreshing since I own so many lighter brown strapped watches. Remember, the darker the brown the more versatile it is.
RETAIL PRICE: $55
IN THE END
TOTAL RETAIL VALUE OF THIS BOX: $118
Once again, Gentleman’s Box put together a thoughtful curation of products. Only the Gentlemen Essentials pocket square is from a brand I know of. The other three brands are new to me. I think any style enthusiast or anyone for that matter will appreciate being introduced to new brands they never would have known of or tried. It’s a worthwhile investment, especially if you’re looking to experiment with your style.
