GENTLEMAN’S BOX REVIEW—SEPTEMBER 2017
The Gentleman’s Box for September honors our favorite master distiller. I haven’t got a clue as to who it is, but he’s the son of a legendary distiller and he’s in the Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame. Talk about accolades. Let’s dive into the products.
THE KNOT CLUB NECKTIE
First up is a necktie from The Knot Club. Its deep red, burgundy color makes it ideal for the fall season. If you’re a fan of microdots, this tie is right up your alley. They’re subtle and minimal. This necktie is made up of 75% microfiber and 25% silk.
Retail Price: $30
THE KNOT CLUB POCKET SQUARE
Next up is a 100% cotton, nearly 12″x12″ pocket square. The colors makes it a perfect pairing with the necktie above. Personally I’m not a big fan of the pocket squares below 15″x15″, especially if you’re going for a puff pocket square fold. Nevertheless, it’s a solid pocket square with a classic square pattern. It’s rare when a box has multiple products by the same brand, but The Knot Club leaves a good first impression.
Retail Price: $15
DEAD SOXY BEAUREGARD SOCKS
This is not Dead Soxy’s first go-round with Gentleman’s Box. I’m a fan of Dead Soxy, as they manage to infuse quality along with casual, comfortability into their socks. This pair is made of a bamboo (75%, polyester (23%) and elastane (2$) blend. They feel silky smooth with a luxurious look and feel. I particularly like the cream heel and navy toe. It makes for a nice blend with the primary maroon color.
Retail Price: $25
SAND & BELL LAPEL PIN
Ah, the iconic fleur-de-lis emblem. I’ve never heard of Sand & Bell, but it seems there are many brands that have reproduced this kind of lapel pin. I know of a few other brands with the exact pin and I own a fleur-de-lis pin myself. I personally like lapel pins because they inject a bit of personality into a simple getup. Whether you’re pairing it with a stylish pocket square or slim knit tie, it’s sure to leave an impression.
Retail Price: $15
JIM BEAM BLACK WHISKEY STONES
This is my first set of whiskey stones and I’m glad it’s from a brand I know and love. I’ve been drinking Jim Beam whiskey bourbons for many years now and was excited when I heard they were partnering with Gentleman’s Box. The last Jim Beam product was an ice cube tray and this one, in my opinion is much better. These stones will keep your drinks cold while not diluting them.
Retail Price: $12
